This past Mothers Day Weekend saw the 30th annual Midland Invitational Tournament take place at the Midland Soccer Club complex. A record number of 179 teams participated in this year’s event, which represents about 2,500 soccer players!
The Midland Soccer Club complex is widely regarded as one of the finest soccer facilities in Michigan, and possibly the entire Midwest. One of the big reasons why it has earned this reputation is the outstanding condition of its playing fields.
For the past 2 years Reder Landscaping has had the honor of being chosen by the Midland Soccer Club to maintain its soccer complex. It is no easy job to maintain a facility of this size to the high standards for which it is known. However, with over 40 years of experience in the turf business maintaining everything from private residences to large-scale commercial properties, we feel uniquely qualified to take care of this project that is such a point of pride for the entire City of Midland.

Midland Soccer Complex Fast Facts
- The soccer complex itself is 56 acres.
- It includes 52 acres of turf.
- Additionally, it includes another 4 acres of parking, buildings and landscaping.
- 42 acres of the 52 acres of turf are watered by an irrigation system.
- 2 acres of landscaping also have bed irrigation.
Our Maintenance Responsibilities
Our tasks include mowing the playing fields and the “fine turf” areas around the clubhouse and concession buildings 2 times a week on average, and sometimes 3 times a week during peak growing times. We also take care of all fertilizing and pest control responsibilities, as well as the bed maintenance for all the landscaping areas.
Irrigation is a big part of what we do at the soccer complex. We establish the watering schedule, as well as monitor and adjust all the clocks and heads for the irrigation system to compensate for changing weather conditions. We also have worked on 2 major modifications to the irrigation system to improve turf conditions. These projects include rewiring the entire system in the 26 acres of “original” soccer fields to bring it up to date, as well as adding 6 zones to the 14 acres of “new” fields to improve coverage.
Reder Landscaping is very proud of the work we do at the Midland Soccer Club and would be happy to talk with you about the maintenance and irrigation needs of your property, big or small. Give us a call.[/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
